NUTRITIONAL VIGILANCE

The rapid development of dietary supplements and functional foods has created the need for a unified Nutritional Vigilance System across Europe.

The system aims to: a) Identify and recognize any adverse effects related to the consumption of approved nutritional products; b) Detect any changes in the risk-benefit profile of these products; c) Activate consumer awareness initiatives regarding potential adverse effects associated with such products; d) Encourage healthcare professionals to ensure accurate reporting when there is suspicion of a link between product consumption and health effects; e) Educate consumers on the importance of a balanced diet.

Nutritional Vigilance should be implemented by companies that produce or market dietary supplements, enriched foods or beverages containing nutrients or bioactive compounds (e.g., vitamins, minerals, amino acids, plant extracts, etc.), novel foods, and products intended for specific population groups (e.g., infants, athletes, individuals with food allergies, etc.).

At TOLLEON, we operate an active Nutritional Vigilance System, utilizing monitoring mechanisms based on health professionals such as doctors, pharmacists, and chemists. This system collects reports on adverse reactions linked to the use of our nutritional products.

The collection of these reports enables us to assess potential health risks and to issue necessary recommendations and notifications to health authorities and the general public.

We provide a quality assurance system that guarantees Nutritional Vigilance throughout the entire product lifecycle, both before and after market distribution.
